when charging? I don't normally use the battery power as the laptop is usually always on my desk, so I'm not sure whether this is normal or not. It almost feels like I could cook some eggs with it!

I got the battery down to about 23% before plugging the ac into the laptop, btw.

    Any help is appreciated :)

Almost every AC adapter I've ever had has gotten pretty hot; I don't think it's unusual.

The charger on my E500 would get hot enough to start a fusion reaction, but fell under I recall in '99 that I missed. Chargers should get hot, but not excesively hot. If it becomes uncomfortable to touch you should keep an eye on it.

Just call Acer, tell them its hot, you get a new adapter in a week. Don't even have to send the old one in.

In the end you get 2 adapters.

This only works if you are still under warranty though.

adapters tend to get hot when you are charging and using the laptop at the same time.

try not to use the laptop when charging and you will notice little to no heat at all

They all get quite hot. If you can hold it in your hand then its OK. If you drop it because it is burning you then that's too hot.

The adaptors get rid of the waste heat by conduction, convection and radiation (that's why they are usually black). Try to avoid covering them up when they are in use.
