    1. Is it a MXM type laptop?

    2. Would the new Intel 80GB SSD work in it?

    3. How about 6GB RAM?

    Thanks

    1. Yes, probably it's a MXM III, since you can put the 9700M GT on it but you can also have the 9600M GT which I think is MXM II. But yes it's a MXM III laptop

    2. It has two SATA ports for hard drives so if the intel SSD drive is for SATA port, yes it will work on it.

    3. According to ACER the laptop is upgreadable up to 4GB RAM. Of course the laptop is given with Windows 32bit and not 64bit so there is no reason to go more than 4GB. But that makes me think that it has only two ports for memory so I don't think you can put more than 4GB unless you can find 4GB RAM sticks.

Very good choice, I really like the new blue gemstone series.

    1. Yes, MXM II/III

    2. No idea but I don't see why not.

    3. 4GB max(it has only 2 memory slots available)

The chipset does support it but do not mistake that as that does not mean motherboards do.

The motherboard and BIOS are 64-bit compliant since 4GB is addressable, so there is no reason why 8GB will not be supported. Acer only uses Hynix, Samsung and Nanya generic memory modules, and Hynix released the 4GB module a couple of days back.

Andy, according to the SG 8930 supports up to 4GB...Don't forget about possible BIOS limitation too..

Because there were no 4GB modules available to Acer when the SG was released. Acer doesn't use modules provided by Micron.... :p

ah, thats ok. I dont need 6GB anyway.

Does anyone know if the internal layout of the 8930 is the same as the 8920??
This is my first laptop (only dealt with desktops) and i have no clue how to change the HDD.
