    Hello,i have a similiar model ,acer aspire 7740 series 17.3" screen and as far as sharpness goes it looks pretty good to me.
    Movies look great,good color in games and media.I like a glossy finish also.
    Maybe theirs a difference in the screens but mine looks good so i would think the 7745g would also look good.

    You can buy a new 1080p panel for £90 anyway if you hate it.

    It's always a bit of a gamble- Acer doesn't buy 17" LCDs especially for Aspire 7745 or any other model. They just buy 17" displays from different manufacturers and use them across their 17" portfolio.
    So you may be lucky and get a good one and you may be unlucky and get a poor one.
