    Is there any place I can get a recover CD for my Acer Aspire 5100?

    My laptop is out of warranty ,is there any place I can get a recovery CD besides from Acer? They are charging $35 for it :(

    Do you still have the PQservice hidden recovery partition.

    If so, you should be able to burn your recovery disks using the acer ERecovery software provided with the empowering suite.

    That could be a problem.

    Do you need to reinstall windows. Another way round it would be to see if a friend has a copy of windows and use the product key from you laptop to install it.

    He did install his Windows Xp software but I cant update it

    Pay Acer the $35 for the disc. Install and be happy.

    And never let anybody mess with your lappie again.

    My friend install an XP pro , i tried using the codes I have on my lop top but it doesnt match, i think my code is just an XP Home Edition

    And then windows genuine advantage kicks in. Basically you need to pay for the backup disks like Teejay says, or find some friends or family who have the same copy of xp as you. Or buy a retail or OEM copy of XP which would probably be more expensive than the backup disks.

    These are pretty much your options.

    Are you 100% sure the hidden partition has been deleted.
