    Hi all-
I currently have and use a samsung x460 and absolutely love it (very light, thin and powerful). I have an opportunity to get an acer timelinex as I'm looking for a laptop to take around on travel. Granted my x460 is more than capable of being portable, however I'm looking for a smaller footprint without sacrificing usability. My decision is between the 13.3 or 11.6 models of the timelinx line.

I will be taking the laptop to different vendors, suppliers, sporting events, manufacturers, etc for a company I own. I'm just looking for something to be able to throw in a backpack and transport all over creation.

    My questions/thoughts:
    1) Would it be a waste to go with a 13.3 since I have a 14" already? My x460 handles everything I throw at it from graphic design to web design etc. So I intend to use that mainly at home (docked with dual 21" monitors).

    2) Those who know about the timelinex, is the 11.6" version powerful enough to handle Photoshop and similar graphic design/editing programs (again need to sit down with vendors, suppliers, customers, athletes, etc)

    3) Is the 11.6 so drastically inferior to the 13.3 that I shouldn't go with it?

Basically it comes down to seeing if the 13.3 is too close to my 14" that it wouldn't make sense to get. However I'd like to make sure the 11.6 isn't so inferior that it's a waste in that respect. Again I'm looking for this to be my roadwarrior.

Hope this made sense...thanks all for your inputs! Much appreciated

    1) I have a 13.3" TimelineX 3820TG and an 11.6" Aspire 1420T on my desk in front of me right now. The 13.3" is significantly bigger and less portable than the 11.6" (they're both portable but relatively, the 11.6" is more so, something you grab like a small college notebook or a steno pad on the way out the door). I would recommend the smaller unit for your needs.

2)The new I5 version of the 1830T will probably do everything you need it to do. Here is the owners lounge link. http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/468120-acer-aspire-timelinex-1830t-thread-120.html It has an integrated GPU but the tests show that its graphics are greatly improved from my older Core2duo model. There is also a Travelmate model that has a matt disply which might be better on your eyes for graphic work at that display size.

    3)No.

There is, of course, another option. Something like an 11.6" convertible tablet like the HP TM2, which has a dedicated GPU or the Lenovo X201T with a I7-640LM processor and 400 nit display (if oyu get the outdoor display).

Good luck with your decision. I've been looking into the tablet option, you can PM me if you have any questions.

    Bronsky -
Great reply and thank you very much for the info. You have swayed me towards the smaller version. I will also take a look at the recommendations you gave.

    Thanks again

Oh and is there any way you can post a pic of the 13.3 and 11.6 side by side?

Bronsky, how do you like the Acer 3820TG? I'm buying a new notebook soon and it's in my final three choices.

I've only had it for a couple of days but I love it. I don't understand the criticism of the display. Anyone who has owned an acer knows that the keyboard is, well, an acer keyboard. :D Oh, and I hate the touchpad. I preferred the split keys on the edge of the palmrest like on my 1410T. But, these are minor complaints considering the power of this little monster.

You can't get them in the US yet. Just in case you live here.
