Hello
I am a "silver surfer" with limited computer knowledge running an Acer Aspire 5920G with Vista Home premium SP1 and would greatly appreciate help.
My laptop is almost always pretty clean of viruses, spyware etc so I was very surprised when a scan by Malwarebytes today showed 2 Trojan.Agent infections on a Registry Value and a File containing the words PLFSet and .dll.
Looking in google I saw an article which said that PLFSet related to the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam so I took no action whatsoever as it looks like they are both False Positives from Malwarebytes.
My laptop appears to be running normally but just to ease my mind I would be very grateful if some-one knowledgeable could confirm they are in fact False Positives and relate to the webcam as the article said.
Many thanks in advance for help and assistance.

It would be prudent to assume that it is a virus, rather than a false positive; leaving it alone would be a dangerous assumption to make. However, if you got the webcam software from a trusted source (ie, directly from Acer's website), it may very well be a false positive.
Have you searched online to see what this trojan does? -
Thanks for quick reply.
Yes the software was supplied by Acer when I bought the laptop new about 7 months ago.
Digging deeper into google I actually subsequently found a posting from this Acer forum which confirms that PLFSet.dll does in fact relate to the Crystal Eye Webcam.
Scans with my anti-virus and 3 other anti-spyware programs show my laptop is clean and do not report this Trojan.Agent.
The scan with Malwarebytes was the first since upgrading to its latest version yesterday - previous scans had also been clean.
In all the circumstances I think I'm pretty safe to assume its a False Positive but will report it on the Malwarebytes forum for them to have a look and, if appropriate, remove from their definitions base.
Thanks again and bye for now !!
Is this a False Positive for Trojan.Agent at PLFSet.dll ?
