    Hey All,

I am getting this laptop for Euro 899 (~$1300) at amazon.de:

Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG-644G16Mnks Il Diavolo 35,5 cm (14 Zoll) (Intel Core i7 640M, 2,8GHz, 4GB RAM, 160 GB SSD HDD, AMD HD 6550, DVD, Win 7 HP)
    Weight: 2.2 kg.

    It has i7, plus SSD.

Is this a good bargain (from a 'US cost' perspective)?

    Thanks!

well the acer 4820tg i got mine for $729.99
i7 640m i think would run hotter on this but that goes for about 300-400oem
the 160gb ssd i have no idea which it is but i say around another $250.
729+400+250=$1379 mind you its used as all the stuff cept the cpu would be new and since the retail acer would come with an i5 prob sell around 100-200ish not sure the retail for the cpu so all in all i dont think its worth it.

Some of the Il Diavolo owners have been having problems with the X-25M 160 GB SSD. I think it can be resolved with a firim ware update but am not sure.

    What kind of problems?

(I've got a "il diavolo" by some days ago, no problem here.)

US cost perspective with a straight conversion? Not an incredible bargain. From euro cost perspective (since unfortunately 1 euro = 1 $ conversion factor still holds in euroland) it is a quite decent price for quite balanced specs (decent gpu, decently fast & big enough ssd, very decent cpu, very decent battery life)

    Just to be pedantic:

    1 Euro = 1.4174 U.S. dollars
