This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    My mother's notebook's screen has suddenly gone black.
    The machine still powers on, but the display remains blank. I plugged in an external monitor with no results, and have also attempted booting using a LiveCD.

    This would seem, in my inexpert opinion, to indicate a problem with the graphics processor.

    Any advice on what might fix this would be appreciated.
