I am having some issues with my Acer Aspire 5002WLMi, I am running Windows XP Home SP2 on it and it has the standard 8-cell battery.
What I noticed is that 3 times already whenever the battery discharges to 60% or around that the system goes into Hibernation. I plug in the AC Adaptor and I boot up the computer again and it says that the battery has been drained to 3%.
My wear level has increased at that time from 4% to 10% then 10% to 22% the next time it happened.
I called Acer and they sent me a new battery. But I was wondering is the battery I had faulty? It was new, just got it in January, the first battery I got from Acer never had any issues.

lithium ion batteries decrease in their capacity to hold charge depending on the charge-discharge cycles the more frequently you use it the lesser charge it is able to hold but mostly the wear is slow
it is possible that you had a faulty battery before or something to do with the bios i am not sure
but if you would like to be sure i suggest you to use NHC or something equivalent just in case next time
hope fully there wont be a next time -
I'm just hoping that the new battery I got from Acer doesn't have that problem. On the bright side I now have 2 batteries with a total of 5.5 hours of battery life.
Issues with Battery at 60%
