    Hi,

I just purchased a new acer 8204 from www.buy.com and I had a question regarding the memory. On the Acer site, it says that the 8204 comes with 2 MB 533MHZ, but on buy.com site it says that the 8204 comes with 2MB L2 cache, 2.0GHz, 667MHz FSB?

Does the Acer 8204 come with the 667MHz or is buy.com wrong and misleading. Anyone's thoughts, or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Initially, they announced 667MHz, but notebooks were shipped with 533MHz... Some people say that the newest 8204s are equipped with 667MHz memory...

Looks like you're a lucky devil who got 667MHz memory. Smile.

I think this is not true. Clintb needs to print the next tab in order to know the memory model.

The next tab will give the model of the memory, but mine has the slower memory and reads 266.7MHz where his reads 333.4MHz. Multiply by 2 and you have the story.

Exactly! I can post it if anyone wants, but it shows 333 and some change. Oh, and I really don't consider that 667 to be all that special. Look at the timings, blech!

you can also run memtest, or everest, or sisoft to get memory information.

Just got the computer and I'm glad to report that it has the 667mhz ram and is the new build date. Also, I don't have any of the problems others have reported. FYI I got it at www.buy.com.

my build date os 0603 cpu-z is showing 266
memory is Nanya PC4300 Part# NT1GT64U8HA0BN-37B in dual channel mode, kinda a bummer but realistically neglible performance hit, since a laptop

Mine is also a 0603 build from Buy.com, and cpu-z is reporting Nanya PC5300 memory. Great price and full 30-day money-back guarantee. Way to go Buy.com!

I have a question too. When I try to make CPU-Z work, it doesn't give hardly any info. Just my cpu speed, multiplier, fsb which is 166.7 for some reason, and the amount of ram i have.

you running latest version? Procrastne8er nice. I am thinking of contacting Acer asking why this is so. Interestingly the manual says either memory. Maybe I should have looked at buy.com . Oh, well
