Hello everyone...
after perusing these forums for a couple of weeks, I've just ordered my Acer Travelmate 4502...and I'm fired up about it
Paid $1259 USD, no tax, no shipping (yesmicro.com)
just a couple of quick questions:
-anyone know the exact dimensions? I wanna go get a cool case / bag for it
-I know a couple of people have asked about bluetooth, I guess it doesn't have it, but what do people know about USB bluetooth devices?
-Is it possible to take out the battery and put in an extra hard drive?
thanks so much
Once I get it I'll post some feedback

hey Bozo, congrats on the purchase, that's a wise purchase of a good laptop. can't answer all your questions specifically, but regarding the cases you could check out www.radtech.us for a slip cover, www.mycrumpler.com for some neat bags and as far as Bluetooth goes, it's only so useful in a laptop, if you have a Bluetooth PDA it's good for synching or a Bluetooth enabled SmartPhone you can synch contacts back and forth which is good. Bluetooth GPS receivers are also accessories that can interface with a laptop so you could say ride in your car and track where you are on a map on your laptop using the GPS. All these are gee whiz features and not core to a laptops purpose, so don't worry too much about being missing the BT.

Hey there...thanks for the reply.
Wanted to ask other Travelmate 4502 peoples if they use a port replicator how well it works, how often they use it, where they got it and how much they paid
I see it on the Acer website, but not for sale, can't find any on Ebay and having trouble finding them anywhere else.
I have a way old Dell desktop (PII, 350 mhz) that still runs (believe it or not) and while the 4502 will be my primary computer, still want to use the old dell, but also be able to plug my laptop into my monitor, I guess with the port replicator.
Along those lines, I just got a big screen in my living room, and plan on doing something I think more people should.
Want to use the S-Video out from travelmate to plug into big screen, get wireless keyboard and mouse, and compute from the couch. Why don't more people do this, it seems easy and cool?
Just having trouble finding wireless keyboard with more than a 6ft range....any suggestions? If there's anywhere to ask, I think this is the place. (but maybe i should have started new thread?)
Anyways, thanks for any help you can give, should get the laptop tomorrow and can't wait to play with it, then review it here.

Congrats Bozo for getting TM4502. hope u will share your experience here. Though review on 4500 is posted here before please do a bit of review at leaset from your point of view
As for port replicator i just Froogled and found it around Between $80-$140 .itz bit high for its purpose u can get USB port replicator around $50. .or a Y mouse cable for $10 To convert old Keyboard and mouse to USB ( if u dont want COM and LPT ports)
TM 4000/4500 Series one External VGA port inbuilt you can connect your monitor to that . You can even use Both LCD and monitor at same time but don't know if it serves the purpose of DUAL monitor (eg in photoshop all the icons on one monitor and the picture along in other) If it does do report it here

So I got my 4502 yesterday, and I am overall pretty happy with it.
While it's larger than I had expected, it really is a beautiful computer...
No problem connecting to wireless network at home or at school, already loaded about 60 cds on it
Only problem I've had so far is connecting it via S-Video cable to my bigscreen. After a while of messing around I got an image on the TV but it was just a portion of my desktop in horrible resolution. Also the picture on the tv was just a snapshot, not a live feed. So when I moved the mouse or opened programs, they would work fine on my laptop screen but not show up on the bigscreen.
Would really appreciate any helpful advice on getting this to work, as I really want to be able to compute from my couch via wireless mouse and keyboard with s-video connection to my tv
Also I'd like to post some info about the performance of my 4502 but not sure how to test. I know there's a thread about it somewhere but not sure where
thanks alot

Hey Bozo....I'm also buying the same notebook as you. If you're getting the 4502LMi model with only XGA screen the dimensions are
14.2" X 11" X 1.3" Those dimensions are in inches. Targus offers so really cool backpacks if you're into those (like me[])! And Mobile edge backpacks are cool too! Hope this helps
There are different personalities inside me...Can you hear their voices? I can.
Just ordered TM 4502
