Hi, Last month update KB943899 caused problems installing, system would hang in "configuring updates" forcing a "forced shutdown". I restored to a backup and hid this update, however it has appeared again with the latest updates and is causing same problem. This is second time hiding an update has failed, it reappears again with the next updates. Google KB943899 and I am not alone. Has nobody had this problem with an ACER ?
This time I persevered, and on rebooting, the "configuring updates" screen reappeared, it then shutdown and rebooted again, and again went to "configuring updates" finally the desktop appeared and windows update says it has been installed. How do I know it isn't corrupted ?

If everyting work like normal I think you're okay. If problems should arise you can always undo the update with system restore.
If you go to control panel and to Windows Updates you can see all the updates that are going to be installed and you can uncheck the ones you don't want. Thats something to remember for future updates.
Still its strange. I haven't had any issues with updating. But I don't have an Acer. (Well, I once had one but I got rid of it because it was a really bad machine). -
Thanks for the reply, just checked in updates and it does say installed O.K. This is the third update in 6 months that has caused grief. I have found twice now that when you hide an update it seems to reappear again days or weeks later. It just seemed strange that on an ACER forum no one else has had same problem, Oh well thanks anyway
