    I unchecked a mute mic option under recording devices and now I keep getting awful feedback whenever I close the lid. I can-r just recheck it now because the option is no longer there. If I go into volume control options and 'all devices currently playing sound' it fixes the problem until I use some app that plays sound, be it a game, vlc, skype, whatever. I even went so far as to try a system restore and disable the mic but these still only fix the problem temporarily. Has anyone any idea how I can fix this?

    Ok, the problem seems to be that the mic boost keeps increasing to 24db. i sen it back dawn to 12 or 0 and everything is fine but the 'apply' button never highlights so I can't save the setting. Anyone got any ideas?
