    Hi

I recently ran into some problems with my acer 5672 the other day.

it started off acting weird when the battery would always tell me that it has low power even when it was fully charged.

then when i boot up windows xp, the keyboard and touchpad stopped working. i would have to restart it a few times for it to work, and then it would stop working after an hour or so. i pluged in a usb mouse and keyboard, and they worked but i would have to load windows with them plugged in already or they wouldnt work.

the keyboard works no problem in the BIOS menu. but as soon as windows loads, it dies. So this leads me to beleive its just a software problem.

I backed up all my data onto another computer and reformatted it with xp again. That didnt work, i had to use a usb keyboard to get through the installation.

Anyone know what could be doing this?

    Hi Coolian,

I recently ran into exactly the same problem that you. After a lot of tries, I think that it could be the DC-DC circuit, which theoreticaly has to keep the same voltage in the motherboard even if the battery charge is low.

Do the following test: disconnect your battery from your laptop and try to run windows again. In my case, the keyboard and the touchpad back to work again.

At the moment, I'm looking for this circuit on my motherboard trying to find swollen capacitors or anything strange.

    Any news, contact me.

    Best regards
