    Hi Guys.

I would like to give u guys some info on the problem i had previously.

Please see (now closed) previous thread
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/242782-keyboard-issues-7720g.html

I have just recently got round to replacing the keyboard (just lived without the numpad :() after the baby threw up on and got the 4 key to constantly stick!!
After the install, I was surprised to find that this didin't cure the problem!!
So I looked to find out what the problem was......

It seems that the bios (v 1.45), thought the keyboard was a standard 15" laptop keyboard!!
After lots of poking around, and a bit of trial and error, I thought I would try the acer support site.

It turns out that they have written a .exe that can change the setting in the bios to a "EX" version.

This will work just fine if you have a 32-bit operating system.

However, I am running Windows 7 64-bit and the program REFUSED to load the driver that is required!!

However, there is a work around (manually signing the driver didn't work, before u ask!! :p).

You can create a basic bootable USB that has something called "winPE" on it. Add the keyboard fixing program to that and hey presto!! KEYBOARD fully functioning on 64-bit. (I presume that this will also apply to ALL 64-bit OS's).

Below is a link to the full fix guide.

    Good Luck Guys!! :p :D
