Thisweekend I saw the prices of RAM and gotreally amazed how they are low, so I though: Well, why not?
and sarted to flert with the idea of increasing my RAM from 1 gig to 2 gig, but then I started to wondr if the advantages would be satisfactory... so, what do you guys think? Is it worth to upgrade my RAM?
Im using XP and I have a little tendency to want to use vistanut the last time I tried Vista I was still with my older processor (Sempron 3500, now i am with a Turion TL-52 yay).

    So, what do you think?

Increased RAM is a good choice. I would recommend 2GB Ram on XP and/or Vista over 1GB. You'll notice an improvement.

but will the increase in performance be noticeable?
I mean, when should I expect gaining speed?

going from 1gb to 2gb will show a difference, everything should load faster because it can handle more things at once without each program hogging most of the ram

you could even go 3 or 4gb if your dangerous....

don't you have to have a 64-bit OS for all of your 4 gigs to be recognizable...

Yes, you need a 64bit OS for that...but you could always upgrade to 64bit later once the software and drivers are okay for Vista x64.

I think 2 gigabytes is a must for Windows Vista if you want to run games on it.

Even if your system recognizes all 4 gigs, you still need the applications intensive enough to use the memory. Normal computing will rarely ever go over the 2Gb limits inless your opening tons of windows/video etc.

I am in a hard situation, putting 2 gig on my Frankenacer (as I like to call it after several surgeries) is something of a fetish... but as I said, the prices are so good that cant be ignored, I mean, two 1gig modules are costing like 70 bucks to you guys, and here, in Brazil, it is cheap for a module...
anyway, I still have to think it through...
BTW: with 2 gig could I disable swap file? Thanks in advance!

So, I went there and tested it, but cpuz got the frequency lower than my previous memory and I didnt buy it...
so a question: does the RAM frequency affect that much? I mean, with my 1gig I have a 320 mhz and with the 2gig I got only 260 mhz, so would it be a good purchase or the increase in quantity doesnt mach the decrease in frequency?
    Tanks in advance!
