    LAN detection problem

    on my Laptop I can not see any Local Area Connection icon. not in my task bar nor in my network connections folder.

    I can only see a 1394 connection and a wireless connection


    what cud be the reason??

    have you set up a network connection ?
    did you tick the check box "show icon on task bar" ?

    now i can see my local area connection icon, but when i connect the cable it still shows network cable unplugged,also when i connect the cable ,the green light at the port doesnt turn on

    any help??
