2 days ago, I was using my Aspire 5720Z and when I opened it after closing it, half the screen was filled with weird coloured lines. I tried restarting it and even restoring it back to the factory default but that didn't help at all.

I didn't drop, hit it, or abuse it in any so what the heck could be wrong with it?

I have the same thing with my Aspire One netbook, mentioned it in another thread where someone with the same model had the problem, I wish someone knew the answer, I cannot even see the screen to dump stuff form it.

Acer was no help told me to call their pay service for assistance. $60 for 30 minutes, probably only to hear it needs repair anyway...

have you tried connecting to an external monitor, if you still have the lines then you may have something wrong with the gpu. If not then it could be a loose connection as you say.

I tried doing that but the external monitor would turn on and off randomly while connected(made sure all connections were secure). My father just decided to send it in for repair since it's still under costco's extended warranty. While I was doing some work, I overheard the phone conversation between him and the costco, acer, and customer support representatives. Let me just say that it was pathetically funny(on their part). 2 hours of their bull just for a damn email change and a case number lol.
