hello all, i am new here, but i could not figure this problem out,
so i have come here for advice.
i recently bought an Acer Aspire 5552 series laptop used from a friend of mine. i knew that he was having this problem. he said it all began when he configured a set of external computer speakers. this person i might add does not know that much about computers. i would consider myself to be an advanced user.
i have looked at every method of testing, configuration, driver restoration, etc, mute/ un mute and i cannot get sound without plugging headphones or an external speaker system.
any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
-
Is Realtek process running- most likely RAVCpl64.exe?
-
oddly enough no, i do not see a process for Realtek running.
how is that possible if i am able to get sound from my headphones but
not the laptops internal speakers? -
Assuming your laptop even uses Realtek sound chipset (most Acers do) this is because this application (that comes with the drivers) detects when you plug in the speakers and cuts off internal speakers.
If you kill it detection doesn't work anymore and you're stuck with whatever was detected last- either speakers work all the time or speaker-phones work all the time. -
yes indeed it uses Realtek high def audio driver, however, i uninstalled and re-installed the driver from the manufacturers website for this model, would that not theoretically fix the issue? and please elaborate, what do you mean by "killing it"? are you talking about the process?
i re-installed the Realtek driver from the manufacturer's website, but it did not change anything. -
I meant killing the process.
What if you go to Control Panel and manually launch Realtek HD Audio Manager? -
after installing the Realtek hd audio manager (not supplied with the driver from the manufacturer ), i opened task manager and the process is now running. i looked in control panel for an audio manager, and low, there was one called "Acer HD Audio Manager" lol.
i opened it, has same basic configs as system sound "manage devices" option.
i tested the front and right stereo and still no sound:/
Laptop Speakers not working, but headphones do.
