Hi.
I don't know if this is a strange or common problem but my laptop screen seems to have shifted to the right.
What I mean is around the edge of the actual visual screen, there is a thin black border now on the left, and slightly on the bottom. The cursor will go up to the edge of the screen on the left, and there will be a thin black strip of unused screen before the the actual screen housing panel.
On the right side of the screen it is ok as well as the top.
Not really a problem when I'm just browsing and doing work, but when watching movies, it starts to become a pain. The bottom part of the unused screen is ok with movies being 16:9 I can't really tell, but the left bit is pretty much the problem.
Is there something I can do technically to fix this or will it require me to open the screen up and adjust something internally?
Thanks.
Just to give more info, I've been using the HDMI-out for a while aswell but normally when I switch back to the laptop screen, it goes back to normal.
Just checked the display settings window and I have 2 options.
'Generic PnP Monitor' on Nvidia card name
(Default Monitor) on Nvidia card name
Right now I'm using the top one.

The trouble is with my actual laptop display, not an external display of kind.
Unlike monitors, there's no options I don't think to actually adjust the display image tothe right, left, top, bottom etc.
I would really appreciate any help with this. -
I don't know if it helps, but have you looked at the settings for flat panel scaling in the nvidia control panel? Perhaps you can restore to default (it is on the top right hand corner of this screen). The "use nvidia scaling" doesn't have any black borders.
Otherwise, try reinstalling the OEM drivers or one of the ones from laptopvideo2go.
Let us know if you manage to resolve it. -
Where it says and gives options for scaling, the options are faded and I can't choose any. The one that has the point in though (currently selected) is 'use nvidia scaling'.
Other options that are there but I can't select are 'use nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio', 'use displays built in scaling', and 'do not scale'.
Below that it shows the displays native resolution and then current resolution that I have which is the native.
I've just taken some low quality pics to show what I mean. Notice the left side of the display has a really thick black border of unused pixel between the panel and actual image.Attached Files:

Thanks for the heads up. The options for flat panel scaling shouldn't be disabled, so I am wondering if it is a driver issue. I'd recommend a clean reinstall of your drivers:
Download and install Driver Sweeper:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1655
download the driver & modded inf from laptopvideo2go:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17737
download driver; extract; move modded inf into extracted folder 174.31 (you should get a warning about overwriting the file - this is ok)
Uninstall the nvidia drivers from control panel -> Programs and features
Restart 5920 after uninstall - press f8 during reboot to enter Windows Vista in safe mode
once in safe mode, start Driver Sweeper. Select option for "Nvidia - display" and click on the "Sweep" icon. It removes the left over nvidia files pretty quickly. When it's finished, restart the pc.
Once back in windows, go to control panel->device manager
expand "display adapters" - the tree should display "standard vga driver". Right mouse click and click on "update driver software"
select "browse my computer for driver software"
select "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
click on "have disk" and in the browse window open the folder with the extracted driver from laptopvideo2go.
double click on "the nvac.inf" file and select ok, then the "next" button until it starts to install.
let Vista install the driver (click on Yes to any windows that pop up). Restart the laptop.
I usually "upgrade my score" in the Window Experience Index, after installing a new driver. Anyhow, give this a try and let us know how it goes. It will at least eliminate a driver issue if it doesn't work.
success!
