I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5741-3541. Within the first week, the laptop started to make a very loud high-pitched whistling noise about once a day while in standby mode with the lid closed. It sounds similar to the whistling heard when a kettle is boiling on the stove (not like the whistling with speaker feedback). It might be coming from the fan area, but I'm not sure. There is nothing plugged into the headphone or microphone ports when this happens and I can't tell what's triggering the whistling. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
