    Hi :)

I have an aspire 5920. Recently it started not recognising the mains power input i.e would run off battery even when plugged in, blue LED near on button not lit, and battery icon showing rather than mains. It would always start working ok i.e recognising mains power, after rebooting.

The power cable seems ok- LED's etc ok.
The battery holds a good charge.
The jack seems ok i.e wiggling of lead didn't change anything

Now the battery has lost its charge, so I can't reboot the laptop.

Any ideas on what's going? I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have!
    Thanks,
    Sally

Try removing the battery and only have the power cord in and try to boot, then put the battery back in. It could be a loose wire inside the laptop

:( I guess it could be a internal issue or a adapater issue hard to say because unless you have a voltage meter you won't be able to test it

Test AC adaptor voltage with multimeter.

Try removing battery and AC power and then hold power button down for 20 seconds or so. Refit battery and AC adapter and try again.

If that doesn't work repeat above but this time connect AC power before refitting battery.
