I got this laptop (Acer Aspire 5536) last October, and I've not had any problems at all. It's in great condition (just a little dirt), I've got great virus protection but I play sims 3 for about 30 minutes and it just overheats and shuts off, when I turn the laptop back on it goes off again. I leave it for a while to cool and it works again?

I don't block my air vents at all, is there a cooling pad I can buy?

I find that raising the back of the laptop a couple of inches with the edge of some cd/dvd boxes helps to increase the airflow and stop high temperatures.
    Worth a try.
