Have recently bought an acer 5920 laptop but have discovered a weird behaviour. When the lid is closed but the laptop is still running normally after a while the laptop begins to loop through a strange passage of sound/music. It sounds almost like spooky church music (sorry I can't explain it better). Have no idea whether it's a vista thing or something specific to acer?
Any ideas?

Is it....Frippertronics?!?!
Which is to say, is it one of the Vista soundscape things that Robert Fripp recorded as a soundtrack (ie: the only reason I'm interested in keeping Vista). -
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
Ghost in the machine?
Have you tried seeing what processes are running? And is it noise,or is it playing through the speakers?
It might be an airflow problem.. Most nbs use the keyboard as a surface forr heat dissipation, and when you shut the lid, that path gets blocked. -
It is music playing very loudly through the speakers no mistake
Soundscape sounds like a good description. Why does it play when the lid has been closed for a while? Haven't got round to customising vista much yet so given the number of threads on here about the 5920 I imagine quite a few people must have experienced this (or does everyone leave the setting at going to sleep when lid is closed?) -
Haha. I think you refer to the Acer Screen Saver.#
I may be wrong. -
Bingo. Changed the screensaver and problem solved. I thought closing the lid just turned the display off though rather than running a screensaver?

Mute your microphones playback volume(Application Default). That's the answer.
I got the same problem when i close my lid and i mute my mic playback volume. After that problem solved and
no strange ghosts sounds
Laptop playing strange music when lid closed
