I got my Acer AS 5024 couple months ago and I have noticed a huge light leakage / vertical viewing angle problems. Everything drawn in bottom of screen is much brighter than the same on the top (this affects darker colours more than lighter). It keeps bothering me all the time and I definately CAN'T live with it.

What should I do? Do I have a chance to change the screen for better one?

    I will post fotos later.

I've had a look at the 5024's screen and I wasnt too impressed either. Sad thing is that all of the ones I have at work are the same as yours from the sounds of it. Maybe a bad batch, or they switched manufacturers. Havn't seen the problem to the same degree on their other notebooks.

there is really nothing you can do except send it in. i'm pretty sure you should be covered by your 1 year warranty.

Well... I sent a message to Acer support team. It would be a miracle if they will reply :D

And here is one photo whitch explains everything. ( http://www.realart.lv/horror.jpg) Look at the two "same colored" dark blue bars on top and bottom of the screen. The difference is unacceptable. I used a very old 14 inch CRT before this lappy and even after years its more comfortable to work with graphics and play dark doomish games. Even windows desktop drives me crazy. Start bar is overbrighted and looks like a ***t! Maybe my eyes are too sensitve but this really is a problem. Lappy itself is brilliant but the screen ... the screen is ....

The warranty wont work I am affraid. They may say that screen is OK. And yes it is... when you look at it from 5 meter distance...

Ahhh... And reviewer who reviewed this lappy didnt mentioned any problems with screen. Maybe he got a beter one.
