I almost always set my laptop at 800Mhz, but the odd time I set it to 2Ghz so I can go a litle faster with my stuff (no big diffeence unless playing a game or using big apps), when on 2Ghz, the most I've seen the temp go to is at the max 53*C, I am sure this is safe, but for how long? How long is a safe period of time to run at that, For the hardware wise I mean, and laptop life.

when I run xtremy games it rises up to 50 degrees, but I don not know how long it can stay that way either, by the way how do you switch your cpu to 2 Ghz, mine seems to be always at 800Mhz and I want more kick on it, I can not figure out how to do it

if the highest you are getting to is 53 degrees, then you have nothing to worry about (I would say personally) mine hits about 80 degrees when running full power (100% CPU load)

That's when I'd worry about how long it's going at that temp for!

I see, good to know. :)

I am going to a LAN party in the next few days, and will find out how bad mine is in gaming for long periods of time.

As for switching, if you have acer epowerement, it should like:

By the way my CPU speed is always set to Maximum, brightness also and my CPU is Turion 64 X2 1.6Ghz,didn't know that this can be unsafe.

But my lappy is at AC Adapter all the time because I use it at home only and it's performance is set to Maximum by default when on AC adapter.Should I change this and set it to medium from time to time, this is my first notebook this is all new to me :) .

I have Aspire 5112 WLMi and I read that his basic quality is good coling but can you please tell me with what program I can monitor my temperature.
