I need a laptop and I came across this Acer, it seems to be loaded with what I want and the price is good. But, I keep hearing conflicting reports on the quality of Acer products, some give horror stories about owning one and others have no problems. It seems like laptop shopping has this sort of differing opinions and experiences on almost any laptop brand out there. It's maddening, I just can't settle and feel confident in my purchase. I'm hoping some more tech savvy people could give me some better and more trust worthy advice. So, what do you think of Acer and this computer?
Here it is:

404 HTTP Error....

Whoops, link fixed.
-
most newer acers are built better than they used to be...
ACER is a great PC for the price.... but they don't have the most customer friendly support staff... (their warranty coverage is average,, and if buying an expennsive ACER i would consider an extended warranty)
WHAT MODEL are you looking at? that link is dead -
I just fixed it, it's working for me now.
-
OK link works...
good overall PC for the price...
as long as you don't want to play NEW GRAPHICS INTENSIVE GAMES you should be FINE
if you want to play new games that have STUNNING GRAPHICS,, you won't find a system for that price... it contains an intergrated VIDEO ADAPTER..
for a laptop with better graphics look for acers with the letter G ater the model #
like a 5920G
but it will likely cost $150 more just for better video... -
A word of caution - Notebooks bought from Newegg are non-refundable....

I just found this 5920 Acer for cheaper. http://www.officemax.com/omax/catal...c2-app8?skuId=21669623&category_Id=cat1060082
Aside from the hard drive space available (320 GB vs. 250GB), what's the real difference? I understand the 5920-6959 has a HD DVD drive, does the 5920-6444? I couldn't tell from the specs listed.
Thanks. -
Um, read the Newegg page again, airmenair - the 5920-6959 doesn't have an HD DVD drive.
I think I know why Newegg can offer such great deals - they save money by not using punctuation in their product headlines!
The extended specs on the right side of the page also mention it's just a DVD burner.
So yeah, the hard drive is the only difference. -
go with the OFFICEMAX,,, 70gigs of HDD is not worth $150
-
Especially considering you can probably get an external hard drive with far more capacity for about the same price as the difference.
Looking to possibly get an Acer Aspire 5920-6959, need advice
