    Two options.

    1. Get hold of a Windows XP OEM CD (for whatever type of windows you had) this will allow you to install windows, however it won't get back any programs that you want/need.

    2. Pay Acer for a copy of the recovery CD/DVD (seem to be around $50 from what I've heard).

First and foremost google is your friend. Try the search function at the top of your screen. Click Here

Good suggestions here. It has been stated many times before here ;)

Don't also forget to include the option of using Acronis True Image 7 which is now FREE, and can be used to backup your entire partion of your drives to DVD.

Yup, Home CDs won't work with MCE keys and vise versa.

Any OS you have the DVD/CD for and a working key, will work on your laptop. If you want an OS that works with the key that's on the bottom of your laptop, then it must be whatever it says: MCE =Windows XP Media Center Edition, Home=WindowsXP Home, Pro./Professional =WindowsXP Professional

Boo why didn't you just create the restore disk like it asked you too when you first booted the computer?

While I like having the backup media provided, they provide a very easy way to make your own backup media, plus I ALWAYS make backup copies of backup media (even if they provide it) because CD's can get damaged/scratched etc.
