Hi guys! A friend of mine here at Uni has got himself a Sony widescreen laptop with a Radeon 9200 mobility. He has the option of stretching images to fit the screen while maintaining aspect ratio. I have the Aspire 2012WLMi, with Radeon 9700 mobility...and do not have this option. I've downloaded the latest mobility drivers from the Acer website, but it has not added any functionality. Why would such a useful feature be present on a lower graphics card????

Any way to work around it?

    Thanks!

    Hey Chimp,

When stretching any 4:3 ratio image to a 16:9 or 16:10 ratio, your not going to be able to keep the aspect ratio. You can turn your desktop into a Virtual Desktop and "zoom" in on the picture while not adjusting the aspect ratio, but it's not the same. There's an option for the ATI drivers that allow you to disable the Widescreen mode (non-stretching), but that will give you black borders, which is probably not what you want. Are you sure that the Sony can stretch a 4:3 ratio image to 16:9/16:10 without any part of the image going off the screen? That's the only way I can see something like this work, part of the image is off the screen.

The maintain aspect ratio button seems to be missing from the Acer ATI drivers (I had this same option on a X1000). If you want, give Omega Driver a try as they may be the function enabled.
