Most pc comes with manufacture's waranty of one year. I bought this broken Aspire from my friend and register under his name. It is still under waranty but he doesn't have any documents. Anyway to make a claim? The website asked for S/N# and Advantage Acer Contract or something like that which I dont have nor he knows. I just need to replaced the HDD.

    Hi

Most pc comes with manufacture's OR retailerswaranty of one year. I bought this broken Aspire from my friend and register under his name. It is still under waranty but he doesn't have any documents Why not. all the retailer would require if the laptop had a defect rather than damage is a receipt. Anyway to make a claim? The website asked for S/N# and Advantage Acer Contract or something like that which I dont have nor he knows. I just need to replaced the HDD

I am unclear. How do you know the HDD needs replacement?

If the laptop is undamaged but the HDD or any other part is PROVEN to have failed in service simply return it to the original retailer.

If the laptop (and therefore HDD) shows any sign of tampering/abuse/having been dropped or broken either buy a new HDD of the exact same type or pay someone local to swap the HDD and reinstall the system. No doubt your friend created the backup disks when he first got the laptop. . This is quick and easy.

If you/he damaged it you could still send it to acer to have them fix it at your expense but that would not be my first thought in this situation

Manufacturers or retailers? I dont know, never bought new pc/laptop before.

Why not? Shoot! could be different reason. I know he moved. Some people don't keep receipt safe like some of us do.

Unclear how I know HDD needs replacing? I work as a Helpdesk in an University. I do trouble shooting every day. Also that's how I know most pc is covered for one year under non-accidental.

I'd already order a new HDD 320G prior to posting here. Since it's still under waranty, I thought I could take advantage of it without the actual documents.

Anyway, as a pc consultant you didn't really answer my question. You only questioned my questions. Tho, thanks for your TRY to help.

Anymore questions? I prefer answer tho.

So, what is the Advantage Acer Contract? Anyone?
