Hi everyone!
I have an Acer 6930ZG with a fresh install of windows 7 RC 32bit. I can play Call Of Duty 4, Counter Strike, Flatout 2 etc. with no problems! But when I try to open MapleStory a blue screen appears, and begin to make a physcial memory dump?. MapleStory is a 2D-game, and Call Of Duty requires much more.
I made a little research, and I found out that alot of people have the same problem, and they said it was caused by a conflict with a program or hardware drivers. I have tried to delete my NVIDIA driver, and install it again. No luck.
And yes, I have also tried to run MapleStory in compatibily mode![]()
As I said: It's only in MapleStory I experience the problem, and I don't think it's ram-failure, since I have seen the same problem on a different computer, and I can play Call of Duty 4.
Here is the system log:

Errrrrr. Maplestory can't be run in Windows 7 I think because maplestory is a 2D game, even without a dedicated graphic card you can play maplestory smoothly. Actually, maplestory can't be run in Windows Vista already. However, it still afford to run it with unknown reason.
You can check the maplestory website game requirement, it stated for Windows XP only =.=! -
Thanks for your answer DarkSilver!
Before I installed Windows 7, I had Vista and then it worked =S!
I have tried a memory test, and my RAM is tested O.K.!
I have a friend who installed Windows 7 yesterday, and he can run it. It's really weird.
I think it's a conflict, but I can't find what. I have updated almost all my drivers with no luck. -
No luck for my battle.net too. LOL.
I reverted my Windows 7 back to Windows Vista for the sake of software compatibility.
32bit windows 7 can be handle easier(slightly more software can be use) but 64bit windows 7 seems harder due to a lot of older software can't be use.
Maplestory can be run on Vista 32bit of course. I have play maplestory using Windows Vista 32bit in my laptop. It just pop up a warning message before maplestory launch to tell that maplestory actually doesnt support Vista(both 32bit and 64bit). I just ignore it and run XD! LOL!
I am not sure about 64bit Vista can run maplestory or not because maplestory is a 32bit based game. -
Thanks for your answer!
I don't think it's because of hardware failure, since I can play CoD 4 smooth! Actually I can play CoD 4 15 FPS higher on Windows 7 than Vista! -
I tried benchmark on it, everything seems to be better.
I will go back to Windows 7 sooner or later. I need to find a fix for "the administrator stuffs", it keeps said I can't delete this due to I am not the admin. ZZZZ, I am the ADMIN you fool windows 7!!(LOL)
I already set I am the only 1 able to login with admin right and no guest account allowed!! -
Thanks for your answer DarkSilver ^^
Yeah, there are still issues with Windows 7. But it's a great offer that it works like the OEM-version almost a year (June, 1st 2010)
I will try to reinstall Windows 7 today. I have messed it up, lol. Reinstalled and installed drivers waaaayyy to many times xD, with no luck o.0.
And I can live without MapleStory..... For a while. Lol.
But just a off-topic question. When the real Windows 7 is released, will the Release Candidate turn into the real one too? You know, with updates etc. -
I live without MapleStory long ago. Last time, I addicted on these kind of MMORPG stuffs. Now, I am released from the grab of MMORPG. My world seems better without it. LOL.
Yep! My beloved Tune-Up utilities can't be use on Windows 7 and the battle.net!! I can't live without battle.net. XD -
Tune-Up works on Windows 7 if you use the compatibily option.
I have just installed Windows 7 again, and same problem appears. =( The Blue Screen doesen't leave anything! No files, no corrupt drivers, NOTHING! It's really annoying, because I don't know what is wrong ! :/ -
Well, I will give it a try next time for the Tune-Up. This little piece of software really awesome. LOL. -
Why would u want to play maplestory if u can play Call of Duty 4?
-
Yeah, that's the question. I have many friends who plays it!
But guess what? I have rolled back to Vista, and I feel like I'm home again. MapleStory works 100%.
I think I will wait to upgrade to Windows 7 until it's released. Vista works just fine for me. Counter Strike and FlatOut2 run as good as on Windows 7, but in Call of Duty I will experience a FPS drop on 10 :'(
DarkSilver: Yeah, TuneUp Utilities is really great! I use it too.
By the way: Do you think Acer will make Windows 7 drivers? It would be great. -
This is true because I tried to install Vista drivers on Windows 7 and it works too. Tehsuigi, the Acer Moderator in this forum also told that. -
Yeah, I know the driver works, but there are a conflict somewhere since I got a blue screen :/
-
Seriously maplestory is a programming disaster.
You seen the data file?
It is all in one single file no separate modules.
Also I have seen selfish players inside all the time disgusting game that was why I quitted a long time ago. -
Yup, that's why it's easy to get a blue screen. Many people have the same problem. Maybe they will fix it in an update.
But I will stick to Vista for now. When Windows 7 is released I will buy it. -
-
weinter, how do I fix the stupid adminstrator right for the windows 7(because of this problem, I can't install or delete files sometime)??
I am the adminstrator(checked it plenty of times). Yet, still.
Maplestory is really awful. LOL. Can be hack easily. Don't you think so?
Moreover, have you all been to maplestory official website and see the game supports? It said it support up to Windows XP only. LOL. Vista can run it forcefully. Windows 7 hmmmmm(can't). LOL. -
During installation just enter your user account.
Default right should be Administrator in user mode protected by UAC.
First where did you get your Win7 RTM you should check the copy integrity by running MD-5 Checksum it should match the official iso.
I also don't use c**cks and l*od*rs they can potentially cause issues.
Yep it is easily hacked just edit the memory at runtime.
Having said that all games can be hacked unless the processing is done at the server side which would be damn slow and impossible.
Point of games is to have fun why spoil the challenge by hacking? -
Yeah, Windows 7 is released. I just found out that my cousin owns it. -
But maplestory website claims that it only support up to windows xp. LOL.
It doesn't matter to me because I have quited Maplestory long time ago.
Weinter, I am using Windows 7 64bit Ultimate RC. Not RTM version(due to the trial date too short). -
Actually, you are wrong Darksilver. MapleStory has released a Vista-client. Only for Vista users.
http://en.maplestory.nexoneu.com/Maple.aspx?Part=/Download/GameDownload If you look, there is a Vista-setup. This doesen't work on Windows 7 though.
Maybe if I wait a couple of months, Microsoft or Nexon will make an update that supports MapleStory on windows 7 100%.
EDIT: ARRGH! I have just logged into MapleStory forum, and I found a guy who got same problem, and he can play GMS with no problems! It's MapleStory EU fail. For crying out loud, I thought it was the drivers. I have reinstalled everything, and now I'm back on Vista -.- Omg. I install Windows 7 again when I got time o.o. -
I am mentioning Maplestory SEA(XP LOL, see here, http://maple.playpark.net/en/download/game_client/) not Maplestory GLOBAL.
Well, Maplestory EUROPE is the newest Maplestory server(just launch 1 or 2 years ago) in the world.
That's why it is slower developed than Maplestory GLBOAL. -
