    Anybody have any idea what the Mass Storage Controller under the unknown section in the device manager is? I installed my own version of windows xp therefore i had to install my own drivers and dont know what this is.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks..

    Does your laptop have a card reader?

    You have provided literally no info on your laptop. What model would be a good start!

    nope no card reader.. my laptop is the 1681..

    i dont have a card reader in my version of the laptop..

    The controller might be there but the actual card redear slot might be missing may be acer striped it down to reduce cost

    I had this problem with my 1683 (though I do have the card reader). I reinstalled the chipset drivers from the Acer website and
    the problem went away.
