Anyone know where I could get an updated version of the firmware for this stupid drive, I've got like 5 different media brands here and only one type works faster then 2x.

    Thanks!

dude true that! what's up with these horrid burn speeds? That's the same drive as my FE 590. I bet it's cheap ploy to get me to buy sony media .
Anyone else having slow burn speeds, if not what media do you use?

I should say that the only media that does work at 8x is ridata, BS if you ask me as it's always 50% more then the other brands.

I've tried at least 5 different unknown brands all of which burn at 8x fine in my LG desktop burns. I was one of the suckers that bought a 50 pack of memorex 16x disc that don't burn at more then 4x on any drive :(. Futureshop had another sale on the other day for a 50pack of 16x disc, guess they loves suckers.

Is that the same drive as what is in the Ferrari 4000 series?
I get various results with various media, but Ritek always burns at 8X for me...
