I want to upgrade from the installed 1Gb to 2Gb of memory. Please can someone tell me how to open the back cover to gain access to the DRAM slots. The manual on page 61 states “Remove the screws from the memory cover; then lift up and remove the memory cover.” However, the picture plainly does not relate to the model 4220 since it shows a small cover in the centre of the back of the PC. The actual cover is quite large and covers most of the left hand side of the back of the PC. The problem is that after undoing the 5 screws, the cover does not come loose. There is a slot at the top of the cover, but levering from there simply bends the top part of the cover and forcing it has the risk of breaking it. There is no obvious way in which the cover slides or locks. Help!

It sounds very similar to the cover on the 5672, takes up about half of the back. Make sure all of the screws are out and apply a small amount (but firm) of pressure where you see the slot (may need a small screw driver). The cover will have tabs at various locations along the edge. These tabs are what is still holding the cover into palce. Good luck.

Thank you. I just needed a bit more courage to lever at the edges of the cover. Upgraded successfully now!

    Congrats :)

I suggest running a memory test with MemTest86+ (see guide here).
