Last week I dropped my 3810TZ from a table and the LCD panel hinge cracked. Then I got a call from Acer about the mike cable overheat repair and if I wanted to send it in. I thought just do it and went for it.
I put a sticker over the broken hinge that just said 'repair?' and send the machine in.
Today it came back with a brand new LCD panel!!!

Thank you Acer, this is great service and I am very happy. :)

That is good. Thanks for sharing a success story instead of a failure that we always seem to see, well of course people tend to whine if things aren't going well, but in this case, I'm happy.

Just for interest sake, where do you live?

I know Acer service is really good in certain area's/ countries.
I am in South Africa and Acer service here is top notch.

In other places it's really pathetic. You have given me the idea of starting a thread sometime here listing top areas/service/backup for Acer.

With happy outcomes like your's ;)

    Hi

I work with a company that sells and repair Acer laptops and desktop computer. Just wanted to let you know that if you have had the microphone cable and hdd bracket exchanged under the Acer Recall then make sure you test the computer with some cpu stressing software for a good time to make sure that the cpu does not overheat or the laptop starts to get slow even when just having basic programs running. The recall due to short curcuit in the microphone cable can actually later result in cpu damage due to overheating. I had the same laptop in for repair at Acers repaircenter 4 times and I made it very clear that the cpu would start to freeze the laptop after 30-40 mins of using it but still they sent it back each time saying it was okay. So 4th time I called their dealer support hotline and spoke to them said that if they sent it back again without having found any problems we would not accept it and the laptop should be refunded. A week later I received an email that the mainboard was tested to be defective and the laptop was refunded. So nothing wrong on first 3 attempts and then suddenly mainboard is defective and I said it was the cpu that was at 90-100% load after a short while. So just wanted to share this so you know that the microphone cable issue can result in damage showing up later.
