I have an Acer Aspire 5536 which is running Windows 7. Recently, I have noticed that two of the On-Screen Symbols have gone missing.
Previously, when I pressed the Volume '+' or '-' buttons, a small Icon like symbol would appear on the screen showing a speaker graphic and a moving '|||||||' bar.
Also, if I pressed the button to disable the Touchpad, a symbol would appear momentarily showing that the pad had been disabled/enabled.
Can someone please advise me how I can restore these symbols?

    Thanks

Did you run Acer Upgrade Adviser before installing Windows 7? Sounds like that you are missing certain Acer applications.

    Moved to Acer.

Hi and thanks for your quick reply. It's a shame more websites don't have such a pretty moderator :)

I did run the Upgrade Adviser as detailed within the upgrading instructions. The symbols appeared OK since the upgrade about 6 weeks ago, until yesterday when they stopped appearing. The 'Volume and 'Pad disable' buttons do actually work as normal. I've tried to find a way to re-enable the symbols but have been unsuccessful........

It's the "Launch Manager" driver. Download it from Acer's website, and you are good to go! I use Windows 7 too, but the odd thing is, the Windows 7 driver doesen't seem work. Download the one for Vista, and then it works :)

    I hope I could help. :)

That Did it!! Thanks so much :) Obviously something got corrupted in my system. I had some spyware on my laptop and cleared it out using Spybot S&D so that may have caused the problem ??

    Thanks Again!
