    Hi everybody.

I bought my Acer 3810TG a month ago with Vista pre-installed and recently upgraded to Windows 7. The only problem now is that the brightness icon has disappeared (when I press Fn+left/right arrows), every other icon is working fine though.

Anyway when I looked in the Launch Manager folder, there's a folder called OSDRC with pictures of the icons, where I noticed the brightness icons were missing.

I've tried reinstalling Vista, sent it back to Acer, installing the newest/previous versions of Acer Launch Manager but neither helped.

Is it possible that someone whose brightness icons are working can upload them here or have another solution to get them back? Thanks in advance :)

Since we have the same series I'm surprised to hear you don't have ANY of the indicators at all.. did you do a clean installation after you bought it and do you have Launch Manager installed?

Yes I'm positive that the 3810Ts have the osd indicators. The icons in my attachment is the ones that show up when I use the Fn functions, but somehow those for brightness are missing :S

Neither did I. I have the same set of 37 icons as on the screenshot attached and Win 7 is factory installed.

Did you have a brightness icon to begin with? or ever seen it? None of the Timelines I've used had a brightness icon (my own, and several at local Best Buy, Office Depot, etc); my old 9300 didn't have a brightness indicator either

I've never seen a brightness icon on my Acer 3810T, with Windows Vista or Windows 7. There are icons for some other things, like volume and touchpad lock etc.

Hey. Year I had a sun-esque like brightness icon (much like this one: http://www.markshuttleworth.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/notify-osd-screenshot.png or the ones on our left/right arrow keys) the first month I used it with Vista pre-installed but then lost it after a clean Windows 7 installation so I'm 100% sure that it exists. I can't even get it back when trying to restore factory settings by alt + F10 and that's weird because the brightness icon was still showing after I ''accidently'' restored it back to factory settings during the first month with Vista, before I received my Windows 7 upgrade kit.

Do you have any idea whether the Timelines you've seen had a out of the box Windows installation on them? It seems like the icons aren't incluced if somebody has made a clean OS install on them..

My 3810t is running Vista, never touched it (the OS that is, no system restores or installs, etc) since I got it, not sure about the ones at the stores though, but I'm pretty sure they were running Vista as well

For model Aspire 3820 laid Launch Manager 4.0.5. It has icons brightness. They look like this:

The only problem is that just because LM is not installed on the first Timeline. Must delete the file aiPlatformSetupAddOn. Then LM is installed, but the icons in the brightness all the same not displayed.
The new version of LM also added icons CapsLock, NumLock, etc.
In LM 4 the total number of icons 55.

Download LM 4.0.5 You can link http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...5623&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire 3820TG&OS=701&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_23

    Hi all,
I'm trying to get brightness and caps lock icons on my 3810t with windows xp installed. On the acer website the most recent launch manager for windows xp is 2.0.08 (I've it and it works but lacks brightness and most of all caps lock). I've downloaded the version 4 above (only for windows 7) and it enables all the icons missing as dimas said. The only problem is that is not compatible with windows xp, out of the box. In the readmet.txt file there is windows xp written!! I'm trying to hack it to install on windows xp. Someone is trying to get version 4 on xp ????

actually the launchmanager is a simple keyboard hook program configurable via the file c:\program files\Launch Manager\MMKEYBD.CFG and
the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Inventec\LManager\OnScreen\Predefined\ for osd images
The only problem is figuring out how the program interprets the codes

I had this on vista and could see an icon for the brightness very similiar to the one for the sound that comes up. However I only use to get this when i had the launch manager running along with Empowering Technology. I havent been able to get EM Tech to work properly on Windows 7 64 and no longer see either of the icons now.

Hope you get it fixed I also noticed you said that pressing ALT + F10 doesnt take you into D2D Recovery. Go back to BIOS and scroll over the D2D Recovery - Enabled and check on the right hand side what you need to hold I only say this because on mine its ALT + F12 and might be why.
