    Hi,

I just bought an Acer-Notebook with the Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator x3100. I did not buy the notebook for playing games, but sometimes I just want to play. First it is all fine with World of Warcraft. Low FPS at all, but everything normal.
But when I am trying to run Warcraft with the notebook I get bluescreens. I know this have been discussed several times yet, but I can't get it running with the given hints.
First I did: -opengl on shortcut (Bluescreen)
    -swtnl on shortcut (Bluescreen)
Then I tried several drivers to run. The latest and some older drivers from the official Intel page.
Another hint is to install drivers of the version 14.33 or older. But I can't find anything like this. The links posted in some posts i found here didnt work and in the archieves of the Intel page are just newer drivers.

Can someone help me? I'm working on this problem for about two months now and dont get anything done.

I'm looking forward for your answers and hints.

    muzillah

btw: I'm from germany and "googled" this page, so my English might sound a bit unusual! :)

    Welcome to NBR.

Yeah I've heard of this problem before and the solution was to rollback to old drivers. You can get old drivers from this page but keep in mind that these drivers are all mixed up(not sorted by categories) - different OS, different chipset etc. You'll need a driver that starts with 14.x.x.x(this means XP) and since you need older than 14.33 you need 14.32/31.x.x, you got the point right?

    Hi,

First of all thanks for the fast help and the link to alle the driver-downloads.
I searched a while and found a 14.31.etc.-driver! But all these hints didnt help me. I could play a 23 Minute game, but the next game i got a bluescreen again. Some other solutions for the problem with x3100 and warcraft 3?

    frustrated,

    muzillah

Actually yes, I did a little research.

So you need to set WC3 to Software mode. If you don't know how to do that check this link. I think you need to search for _war3.exe

    i can't find any _war3.exe :(
    theres a _FEAR.exe, _WoW.exe, _age3.exe, _sam2.exe, etc. but nothing with warcraft like wc3, or war3.

If you can find it - make it. Rightclick->New DWARD value. Name it _War3.exe(or whatever is the name of WC3 executable).

I added _War3.exe and tried value 1 and value 0 and it didnt work. To search in a 136-page topic for an answer sounds quite hard. I searched a while and can't find anything - they just say "run in software mode". But I'm missing an explanation to do it in windows XP.

    This should do it.

Edit: This symbol _ is important! Make sure you include it.

I'm not saying you're stupid. I just want to make sure you follow the instructions exactly.

To post urls you can replace the dots with the word "dot". www*dot*google*dot*com

The value should be set to 1.

Also, make sure the registry path is correct(can't see it on that screenshot):

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ialm\Device0

The path is correct. I will try it again with value 1, but I tried before and got a bluescreen.

Well, all I could find out from that huge thread I indicated you to is that WC3 should work in SW mode...and this is the way to do that.

Hmm..then I have no idea. If you want to, post in that big thread your story, don't forget to mention you tried SW mode..maybe I'm missing something. The thread is active you should get response and probably better than mine.
