    Hi
I bought an Acer Aspire 1681 with Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics on it.
When trying to get some picture on a TV-screen /PAL system/, using the TV-Out, the Displays tab in ATI-drivers shows " TV not connected", even it is properly connected - I'm using the same cable with my another desktop computer.
May be the Mobility Radeon's TV-system is NTSC?
Does somebody knows how to check the videocard's TV-Out system ?

You are using 4 pin S-Video connector thats the problem

Acer notebook requires 7 pin S-Video cable like this one http://www.svideo.com/7pin.html

I have tried 7 pin and it worked out of the box ...the maximum resolution thru Svideo is 1024x768 ( yes i could go above it, but then the whole screen wont fit and you have to pan around)

    Nope.
The cable connector is 7-pin, originally bundled with my older desktop Radeon 8500, and it's working perfectly on the mentioned above Radeon 8500.

I tried a normal 7 pin S-video to Rca cable and it worked . I just connected it and powered up the laptops and it was detected

BTW: did u plug it while the laptop was on ... just plug it when it was off and power up
