One day, I was using my Acer Aspire 5102WLMi and Windows froze. I thought that it might straighten itself out so I left it alone for like 2 minutes. It obviously didn't work so I shut it down. When i tried to turn it on, the screen stayed black but the hard disk light kept flashing. I left it alone for a day or so.

When i came back the next day, it was really hot over the touch pad (The AMD sticker was warped and there was a small welt next to it.) and still wouldn't start up. I unplugged it and then came back yet another day later.

This time it started up but it wouldn't let me use my keyboard in grub. (I'm dual booting XP and Ubuntu) After it booted Ubuntu, it let me use my keyboard and mouse, however they were sluggish. The Mouse would only move ever 2 seconds or so and the keys wouldn't display a typed letter for around 2 seconds. When i logged into Ubuntu, i discovered that not only my keyboard and mouse were dysfunctional, but my usb ports and speakers didn't work.

I don't know what could be the problem. Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks

perhaps adding a paragraph to your post would help straighten things out. It's awfully jumbled at the moment, please feel free to edit it so we can help you better.

    Thank you
