I have an Acer 3820 with the ati 5650 w/ switchable graphcis. I was wondering how I might be able to hook it up to multiple monitors.

I already have a setup at home using HDMI and a wireless keyboard/mouse to convert it into a desktop (speakers are plugged into an audio out on the monitor), but I would love to be able to add another 24" screen to the one I already have.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

IIRC you should be able to use all the display outputs on the 3820tg
What other outputs other than hdmi do you have?

3820TG will have both HDMI and VGA outputs. don't know if they're logically separate or not.

I'm pretty sure they're not separated and that you can only drive one of the outputs. As for solutions, it depends what you're doing on the other monitor? For basic Word, Excel, and browsing, you can get a USB to HDMI/DVI/VGA connector. For gaming, consider a DIY ViDock.

I haven't check it myself, but I thought the 5650 has eyefinity, thus it should be able to drive up to three display, 2 external lcd (1 VGA and 1 HDMI) and 1 laptop lcd.

It's not that easy with Eyefinity.

Now the thing is- if you count your internal LCD as one non-DisplayPort device you are left with only one.
