First of all, good day to you all.
My first post here and it´s about my new Aspire 5315. It´s annoying me and the wife with these habits/errors:
The power-up is strange. My wife and sometimes i, use the "shut off computer"-command in Vista Basic ( Startmenu-bottom row-third"button").
And when we turn it on again after hours/days with the powerbutton, the lights start blinking and HDD starts up, but 5 secs later it clicks ( sounds like a relay..) and its turned off.
I once counted to 8 times before the Lightblue Acer-logo showed up and the computer actually started.
I´ve tried pushin the powerbutton lizard-fast and holding it for a sec or two. Always the same result. No start-up..
Why ?
But it´s the second problem thats really annoying: The mouse-pad![]()
From day one it´s been acting strange; sometimes the pointerarrow freezes while you´re using it and it doesnt respond for a few seconds. And the it dissapears and can be found in the top left corner of the screen. I use webradio and it doesn´t fail, so it´s not that the computer freezes or locks up.. just the pointerarrow![]()
The struggle continues when you´re writing ( as i am now) as the "blinking bar" sometimes jump to a previously written part without I touching the mousepad. This is the annoying part as you are more concerned about if the "blinking bar" is somewhere else than at the last written letter.
Googled and found a patch wich worked for a day. Then it´s the same old situation..
Thinking seriously about taking it to the dealer ( it´s 1,5 months old) and complaining and wanting something done on Warranty. Or is there another solution(s)
The annoying computer: Aspire 5315 with Vista Basic. 80 Gb HDD and 1 Mb cache. sticker also says 1Gb DDR2 .

I think you need to take this back to the dealer, and get you self a Dell Vostro.

I also have the acer 5315, and have had both of the problems you describe.
I have my suspicions that the first problem is caused by closing the notebook after you have selected shutdown, but before the computer has finished doing so. I think that closing the notebook interrupts this process, so when you go to start up next time, it decides it wants to resume the shutdown process. I leave the notebook open until it has completely shutdown.
As for the second problem, I too found this incredibly annoying - however I think I have found the solution. Go to the mouse properties screen, probably found in 'Control panel' or use the touchpad icon on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Select the 'tapping' menu, and then disable tapping. I don't know exactly what tapping is, but ever since I disabled it, the problem hasn't happened once. It also says there is an option for only disabling tapping whilst typing.
Let me know if any of these work for you,
