I have an Acer 6920g. I've had it for a couple years and had no issues whatsoever other than needing a new fresh install from time to time (happens)

Anyway, the problem is. The other day, I was playing a game on the computer and the laptop randomly shut off. The side lights were still on so however, I assumed (even thought the side lights were on) that maybe the power cable came out just a tad so I pushed it back in. All good, set to go again I thought, and I pressed the power button. Once I did, the laptop just died?

The side lights were no longer on. It was as if there was no power going into the laptop. I had charged my battery about an hour ago so I thought ok maybe my cable died (again) even though I had just replaced it a couple months ago...

I proceeded to attach the battery and pressed the power button and nothing once more. I have taken out the HDD and RAM to see if it works in another laptop, and they are fine. I have read that there are some issues with the 9500M GS card however I hear no clicking noise at all. My latop just is not registering any incoming power whether with a wall outlet or battery.

I am inclined to think it might be the PSU. However, I do not have a volt meter or any of that type of equipment to test anything. Without having so, is there a way to find what the issue is myself? I know it might be a bit of a long shot but I would prefer to not take it to a repair shop where they tell me something stupid like replace the motherboard as it seems to always be their solution all be it unguaranteed and at the customers expense.

Aspire 6920G uses a standard 90W <strike>3.74A</strike> 4.74A PSU so it's quite likely that one of your friends or coworkers has the same one.
Ask around- maybe you'll be able to borrow one for an hour or so.

It's either PSU or the motherboard- so it better be the PSU.

BTW- there usually is a green light on the PSU. Is it on?

Do you mean 4.74A? 3.xx A is the 65W charger.
