My computer will recognize, burn to and play CD-RW discs but won't even recognize there is a disc in the disc drive when I use a CD-R. Should this model computer recognize & burn to a CD-R disc? I have contacted Acer support by email & was advised to look in the manual. The manual does not address which discs are compatible with this model. I have tried different brands of CD-R discs and many different discs to be sure it isn't just a faulty disc that is the problem. I'm hoping I just have some setting on the computer that needs to be changed. I need advice please.

I have exactly the same problem.

My burner is a Matshita UJ845S. In an Acer 5684WLMi.

Unfortunately, it's looking more and more like the burner is the problem.

Makes me angry as the thing has not even really worked hard ever.

    Cheers,
    Theo
