    My short first impression
After removing all the crap softwares from it, such as microsoft office, some random pre installed games by acer, and mcafee anti virus, the system responded much more quicker than first boot with all the software. It takes about 40-50 seconds to boot (didn't really timed it, just an estimate). I was running it on battery, lasted more than 3 hours, at 33%, windows battery indicator still say i have more than 1 hour battery life left. The first time I booted it, it had 96% battery life, installed updates and set up took about 3 hours. The battery life on this is pretty great for a 3 cell battery, much more better than my Acer Aspire One AOA150-1570 (ZG5). The keyboard is very nice to type on, compared to my old AAO.

edit: comparison between Acer Aspire One ZG5 and Acer Aspire One ZA3

nope, i don't have a 3g card and 3g internet is too expensive, i would need to add another pci-e slot in if i wanted to do it which i don't know how xD lol

both of the hard drives are the ones that it came with.
in the 11.6", it has the Seagate 5.4k rpm drive in it.
in the 8.9", it has the Hitachi 5.4k rpm drive in it.
both are tweaked in the same way, both have almost similar programs installed, but now my 11.6" probably boots up slower due to more programs and stuff installed :p

Well the Hitachi 5K160 does outperform the Seagate 5400 so it makes sense.

heh.. i don't know much, but on crystalmark or some programs, seems like to me, both of them have similar read/write speed
i might need to do some other testing though soon o_O don't know what else should i test

Synthetic tests will not tell you how they perform in real life.

If you want to measure real life performance duplicate a 5GB folder (on the same drive) and time it by hand.

    You'll see a large difference.

Or run HDTune Pro and look at the I/O benchmark at page 2.

well for sure, i know the battery life on my 3 cell only last around 3 hours and 10 minute on random usage with wifi on for internet and wifi off when watching movies from a portable device.

If you want to use Crystal that's possible too. Just ignore the sequential speeds, and look at the 512K and 4K scores, those say a lot more.

heh.. i'm a bit too lazy to test both, i think both should have similar speed xD
i might want to get a ssd soon for the acer 751... don't know if the Kingston SSDNow V-Series any good

lol no way. The acces time on your Seagate 5400rpm is 23.3.

Hitachi 5K160 gets about 18ms acces time. That's 20% faster.

meh.. i could careless about the HDD that much >.> but i have a question.. does your acer aspire one 751 vibrate kind of a lot due to the hard drive spinning? x.x or is it just mine..

Well I sold mine but the HDD did not really vibrate. It was a Hitachi too.

But I had a NC10 with Hitachi 5K160 that did vibrate.

Try changing the hard drive. I think you got unlucky with your unit.

I had a 5K160 in my NC10 which used to vibrate. While a 5K160 in my 751 did not vibrate.

Exactly what I was looking for :) I wonder how Windows 7 will perform on this notebook since it is supposed to be better optimized for SSD's.

Hopefully when the 1810T timeline comes out the 751 will see a nice price cut, and I can pick one up to play around with.

i don't think the 751 will get a price cut xD
i'm too lazy to install windows 7 o_O until theres a final release or something lol xD
1810T would probably cost at least $550 or so xD

Runtohell, what display does your 751 have?

You can find it out with Everest or sometimes in the device manager.

My Asus 1101Ha had AUO520EC, it did not look as good as the 751 I think.

    Yes that's the same. I made a mistake. 205C.

I had it next to a MBP 13" which did not make it look so good. But it's a pretty good diplay. Wish it was brighter though.

    Hello,
I just purchased an Acer One Model ZA3- from our local grocery store, for $ 199.00 plus tax. I am not a computer wiz - I'm a 60- yr old grandma who owns a desktop. I have 30 days to return this computer. I am not sure I should keep it. First of all, I have never in my life used a lap top & right away I hate the keyboard... How do I know what it has, does it have a built in camera, does it have a microphone. ( both of which I don't have with my desktop nor have I ever used one )I do have the Quick Guide that came with it. I thinkthis notebook is sort of slow, compared with my desktop which I think I purchased in 2003 - Dell. I guess what I am trying to find out is what is the good points in owning this notebook & the bad points. I know $ 200 is not a lot of $$ but I am between jobs and unfortunately now $ 200 does mean a lot. Can anyone give me some info on this so I can decide whether to keep it or return it to the store
