I'm having a problem with my Acer Aspire One A150.

The system won't shut down, and just restarts if I try and turn it off.
I have to pull the battery out if I want it to turn off.

When I plug the battery in, it turns on straight away without me having to press the power button.

Also the system won't work off the Mains Power only (with battery removed).
If I plug just the power lead in, the power light flickers and the system keeps clicking until I unplug it again.
The system works with the power lead only if the battery is plugged in as well.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be???

hold the power button down for 5-10 seconds will turn it off, but it`s not a fix.

    I've already tried that.
It does 'force' turn off, but the system won't turn back on again unless I remove both the battery and the AC power lead.

It seems like there is a 'short' in the power connection, causing the system to think the power button is permanently pressed.

My friend has the same Acer Aspire One, but he doesn't have any problems at all.
If you hold down the power button on his laptop, and don't let, you're able to replicate my problem.
Plug the power lead into the system without the battery in, and the power button constantly blinks, and the system makes a clicking noise.

I've reported the problem to ACER, and I'm waiting for their tech support to get back to me.I've only had the Netbook for 3 days, and it's really getting on my t1ts.

I think a repair or replacement is your best option but you seem to be on top of it.
