I have an 8204 and the screen makes the slightest hissing or buzzing sounds when i type or more evidently if i use the cursor buttons to scroll, if i hold the key down to scroll the page (up or down) its a continous sound. ive only noticed it recently in a quiet room and is a real pain in the ring. So what is the problem techies?

Well, I think I have experienced a similar problem recently. Specifically, it's not from the screen, but from the battery right below the screen. This only happens when using the computer while the battery is charging.

It is a very odd indeed, but it goes away when you stop charging, or the charge is complete. Of course if anybody else has more insight into this situation, let us know :)

hmm thx for the info, but my battery is never plugged in when im on mains power (which is most of the time). Theres also a slight clicking sound from the fan area at random time intervals from 10secs to a minute. alsmost sounds like the click when a webpage loads up, or when clicking BACK or FORWARD in Internet Explorer. To make sure i closed all IE windows and muted the speakers and it still does it! **** my first experience with an Acer and these minor things really piss me up the tree. I wud have stuck with a vaio if they packed decent graphics cards in them. the only ones they make with a decent spec are 17 inch bad boys weighing in at 4kgs

Hi, i tried to check mine after read your thread. And yes there was buzzing sound when key pressed. I believe it came from speaker. Try to plug some headphone it will show you the different.
To solve it, mute line volume in master volume.

BUt i didnt notice clicking sound from fan tough.

I don't seem to be facing that problem. It's silent when I type.

I checked my TM8204 for similar problem mentioned by G33 but could not detect the problems he encountered. Mine is noise free.

    TM8204 (build 06/06)
    Bios Ver:3313

My 8204 buzzes when I type or when the screen redraws (i dont't know the technical term)...I use 3d modeling software and any time i shift a perspective while the model is in motion i get the buzzing. This makes me think the problem has to do with the video card. I do get it with simple operations and even while typing.

I dont know what the problem is but I too would like to fix it....

If "buzzing" comes from the area near the power button, it is well known 8204 GPU noise issue (especially if it's related with 3D modeling). Check some older threads. In case of noise while typing - try to mute "line in" first.

im using 3ds max and i get the same darn thing! regardless of muting all master volume. at the moment it happens when i scroll with the mouse and when in 3ds max even creating a standard primitive and by using the mouse to drag its size (height/width) makes it buzz, its almost like a fast pitched and faint constant whirr like a notebook harddrive reading but it isnt!

So it's well known "GPU buzzing" for sure. It's covered by warranty, so you can send your notebook to Acer... As far as I know they fix it with a glue (!)... Use search option - that problem was discussed many times before.

thx for the info but sacrificing my notebook for gluing doesnt justify the time or money wasted in posting, unless theres a repaire centre in hong kong that will do it while i wait.... i think i may leave it to save hassle. its not damaging to the notebook in anyway is it?

For the Buzzing when typeing Mute Line In.
For the buzzing when doing graphical related content such as games or 3D modeling it is a vibrating Choke Coil which causes the high pitched buzzing. It isnt damaging the notebook in anyway shape or form, just some badly designed mainboards and with some hotglue the problem should be fixed. Also if its under warenty (which oviously it would be) courior is Free Of Charge.
