Please can anyone help me, I have just bought an Aspire 5735 a few weeks ago and, to be fair, it's fantastic for the money; however, i've noticed that in spite of the screen being sharp it appears slightly grainy when i physically scan across the screen with my eyes?!! I have checked this against my 7 year old Sony Vaio but it doesn't have the same problem, it's a mystery...

I was kind of wondering if because the pixels where so closely produced (it is quite a compact 15.4" widescreen display) that it was a trick of the mind? The grainy effect is symetrical like a chequerboard pattern or herringbone!!

If i stare at the screen without any physical movement the picture/graphics are pin sharp, it's only if I alter my viewing angle or scan the screen quickly with my peepers; maybe my brain just isn't sharp enough any more to de-code the data!

I would appreciate any ideas as it's kind of taken the shine off what is otherwise a great buy.....

My exact model details are:- Aspire 5735, 4gb ram, 6400 intel core2duo, vista premium home edition.

Sort of, maybe you're right, i'm amazed though that all these so called 'review' sites haven't picked up on it; everyone rates the screen from what i've read so far?

Well, if it is an LCD screen and not LED, then it might have little patterns that you see when you observe CLOSELY, but that's painful to the eyes!

Do you have a matte screen or a glossy one? Unless it could be noticed that much then it's hardly a problem.

Also, sometimes our eyes can't compensate on fast movement and therefore supplement missing "frames" by kind of duplicating the view, even if it actually does not exist (try googling human blind spots lol) and if you do something like vibrate your lips by blowing out air through it, you'd actually see lines starting to form on your screen. So when you scan your screen with your peripheral vision, you might see those things because your eyes strain to look at it.

(turned out to be an opthalmology lesson, lol)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, maybe my eyes are playing tricks, I can't help it though, I will have to go to Currys under the pretense of wishing to buy this laptop; then slowly leer at the screen and hope the assistants don't see me acting like a nerd. If every other 5735 is the same then that's fine, as that guy said at the begining of Dirty Harry the movie, "I gots ta know....."

I would get a friend to look at the screen to - Just to see that it's not only you that sees it.
