I am heading off to University next year, and I need to know what laptop would be the best for me. Some computer guy suggested Acer and he game me three models:

    Aspire 3000 - 1049 +tax
    Aspire 1690 - 1399 +tax
    TravelMate 4650 - 1849 +tax or 2199 +tax

Basically, the difference in prices account for the better specs. The last one I listed for $2199 has 2.0 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1GB DDR2, 100BG hard drive, modular DVD-DUal drive, 6-in-1 card reader, 15" (1024 x 768) TFT display, V.92 modem

Now what would you suggest for a student entering University who needs a laptop for mobility and good battery life?

    Do you game?

We'll need a bit more info about your needs.

Head over to the 'Hardware' forums and answer or fill in the FAQ.

We'll try our best to derive from that :)
