Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows if a
AMD Phenom II Dual-Core N660 HMN660DCR23GM CPU S1 638
Will go into my - Acer Aspire 5100 (Aspire - 5105WLMi)
BIOS V2.83
BIOS Release date 03/21/2007
Current CPU - AMD Turion 64 x 2 Mobile TL-60 1995.5 Mhz (2.0Ghz)
-
No it won't work.
Among other issues like BIOS compatibility it uses Socket S1 (S1g4) while yor current CPU and mobo use Socket S1 (S1g1).
It wouldn't have worked either way- S1g1 CPU in S1g4 socket nor S1g4 CPU in S1g1 socket. -
Oh ok cool thanx for the heads up brother ill see what else i can do

You could try an rm-77 which is 2.3ghz. But, I think that is supposed to be s1 g2. g1 and g2 are not really different (sometimes g2 works on g1).
If you want to play it safe tho I'd look for a tl-66.
You can probably overclock easily you know. You have to download nvidia system tools. I was able to get my 2ghz CPU up to 2.4ghz. However, it depends on your RAM speed. -
Thank You so much dude Thats exactly what im looking for a tl-66 I might give that a try cheers

Wait so sometimes g2 works in g1 then where should i get my procfessors from ?

s1g2 CPUs wont give you any advantage over s1g1 cpus, except for a little better battery life on the zm models.
Its not like they are generation 1 and 2. Really they are exactly the same, the max upgrade for g2 is a zm-86 2.4ghz, and for g1, its just the tl-68 also 2.4ghz both of which are wildly overpriced.
Need Help Please?!? Amd Phenom S1 into a 5100?!?
